La Dolce Visa - SPECTRUM
This new album - Spectrum - is a reflection of LDV philosophy. It was
recorded in Sicily among family... tasty food... in-depth wine... friendly
people... culture... and the nearby easy-to-reach mountains and
seascapes which provided some of the energies needed to re-create
the LDV experience in sound.
We concentrated these energies into as few sounds as possible,
letting them ring out into the Sicilian environment. And captured them
here for those people who want to share our experiences.
Each piece is based on something important to us...like soul
friends....tasty wine...gathering energy from the sun, the sea and the
earth...celebrating the relative newcomers to life...the LDV-lovers
who gather at La Taverna Azurra, Palermo...the food that mama
cooks...
While the subject, the focus of each piece, is pre-considered, what is
actually played and recorded is improvised - each sound coming from
the individual's feeling for the concept - totally in the moment.
Pietro La Rocca plays electric guitar, bass, harmonica, clarinet,
toy keyboard and sings.
Ken Hyder plays Tuvan dungur shaman drum, bells, Tibetan rolmo
cymbals, and sings.
And on one piece we introduce a new member of the LDV
community, 2-year old IaIa, as she calls herself. She plays
glockenspiel and sundry percussion.
